John Thomas is a pianist and composer who has performed across the globe, blending classical, Broadway, Bulgarian, Turkish, New Orleans jazz, film music and other diverse styles. His creative work spans music, theater, film, photography, and concert production, including collaborations in vibrant cultural settings. John is a Fulbright Bulgaria grant recipient for music and has presented more than a dozen concerts there. Whether on stage, in a studio, or at festivals, John is passionate about creating unique experiences that transcend borders.

Provincetown’s longest-running concert series, produced by John Thomas, returns for its 27th season from June through December 2025. Each concert presents an hour or more of music without borders, including Baroque, classical, Broadway, international, piano, organ, a cappella, and original music, featuring more than 40 performers and music from across the centuries and around the earth.

John’s arrangement conveys the essence of the music: longing, love, and the intertwining of nature in the midst of humanity.
“Are you a tulip, are you a hyacinth?” A hypnotic and serene folk melody from the Dobrudja region of Bulgaria.
Verka Siderova, born in 1926 in Dobrich and one of Bulgaria’s most beloved singers of traditional folk music, made this song popular throughout Bulgaria. She learned it from her grandmother who learned it from her grandmother.
